Filling the Pond at Camp Alpine

I had always wanted to see what it was like when the pond was filling. I converted my rocket cam to take time lapse pictures every 5 minutes. They closed the head gate at noon on Saturday. We stayed till about 8 p.m., even getting the canoes out for bit.

When we came back Monday, we found two problems. First, the pond was drained again. There was a problem with the head gate and they had to empty it to fix it. Second, the camera apparently drained the battery and only operated during the day while the sun was hitting the charger. That is what I get for wiring it up the night before.

How do you keep your equipment safe from curious visitors? The girls looked like they were in some thick pea soup. How is the newt population? Liked the vocal background music. Dad

In one of the pictures it shows the camera set up. It says "Time lapse..." something about do not mess with. So, looks like pretty much the honor system, which probably works pretty well in a church camp at least.

very cool. You have quite the inquisitive mind- both to find out when the pond is filling and how to photodoccument it.

It took me a second to recognize the music. Cool video!

I thought they took the zipline down each year.
