Let your comic geniuses shine

The cousins might like this. Marvel Comics has created a website where you can put together a comic strip or comic book. Here is something I threw together in just a few minutes to try it out.
You pick the layout, background, and characters, and then supply the dialog. My plot needs a little work, but you get the gist.
Give it a try here.

Barcoded

We are always checking out books or picking up holds at the library for the kids, but even if you know their number, it is hard to type in to the touch screen. We tried scanning the cards in, with limited success, but I figured how to generate the code on the web and just print it out. It works!

A Flock of Eagles?

We saw a Bald Eagle at the High Desert Museum in Bend this weekend. More spectacularly, we saw four of them on the way home just east of Corvallis!
One was perched on a downed lamb about thirty meters off the road. Another was another thirty meters off, and yet another pair were visible across the field.
I doubt they brought the lamb down, but who can pass up some fresh veal? Table for four?

Bending the New Year

Annie and I headed over to Bend to visit the Dodge clan.
There was quite a bit more snow than we expected. We drove on chains all the way in to Sisters and then chained up again once in Bend.

We visited the High Desert Museum, which while 20 degrees outside, sported a humid room full of butter flies.

The chickens don't mind the weather as long as the water dish and coop are heated.

The Dodges outfitted us for winter weather and shared their favorite sledding spot with us. It even had a heated picnic area to defrost in. What a fun way to start the new year!
